Take the opportunity to cut the waters of the canals in Amsterdam in style of bygone age. The hotel boat is a time-capsule of polished teak and brass, carpeted traditionally and adorned with marble, leather and beveled glass. This way and in the very same hotel boat, Winston Churchill chose to tour Amsterdam in 1946.

Hotel Pulitzer's hotel boat is built in Muiden in 1909, the beautifully-crafted saloon cruiser "the Tourist" was designed for the exclusive carriage of guests of Amsterdam's grand old hotels along the waterways of this "Venice of the North". Now lovingly restored to its original glory by cabinet-maker and skipper Cor Rotteveel, this elegant jewel of a boat has returned from the past to offer for guests of Hotel Pulitzer the possibility to sail the canals privately.

The Hotel boat's Captain, Rotteveel weaves his sleek craft through Amsterdam's maze of canals in 75-minute cruises that offer an alternative view of this city of art and diamonds, church bells and flowers, a glimpse often not seen by travellers on foot. In short, the cornucopia of sights, sounds and experiences that this "young-hearted old lady" has to offer is for you to enjoy when you embark the hotel boat "the Tourist". For those with an eye for detail, this vessel is resplendent with original art nouveau handles and fretwork; Tiffany lamps, brass nails and screws, ebony dowels on the teak table and fine inlaid brass strips in the teak flooring. This is a floating work of art, a visual experience in itself, and the pride and joy of her owner and skipper Cor Rotteveel.

Hotel Boat "The Tourist" departs daily at 17.00 hrs from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday the departure times are at 11.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs. The duration of the cruise is 75 minutes. The cost is €38 per person and bookings are made through the Concierge. There is also an option of hiring "the Tourist". The cost of hiring "the Tourist" is € 280 per hour. The Hotel Boat will only depart if there are atleast 3 individual bookings.
