AMSTERDAM, November 2010 - For four decades, Hotel Pulitzer, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is offering its guests an unforgettable experience in Amsterdam. To celebrate this anniversary, Hotel Pulitzer brought together 150 former employees on Saturday October 30th for a special presentation of the anniversary book. During this reunion, Head Concierge Robin van Kooten (40 years employed), had the honor to handover the first copy to the very first Hotel Manager of Hotel Pulitzer, Mr. Alfred Egli.
"Since Robin van Kooten will be enjoying his well earned retirement next year, we wanted to take the opportunity and capture his anecdotes in this exquisite book" said Alex van Gastel, Hotel Manager of Hotel Pulitzer. "After 40 years of beautiful memories we are looking forward to the following 40 years. We hope that those years will be just as beautiful and successful as the previous ones."
The anniversary book describes the rich history of the hotel and the ancient canal houses. The history of Hotel Pulitzer starts at October 27th in 1970. After an extensive renovation of twelve of the houses the hotel was opened as a ‘Howard Johnson Hotel'. Shortly after, the hotel was named after its owner, Peter Pulitzer, and became ‘Hotel Pulitzer'. Ever since, Hotel Pulitzer offers exceptional service with attention to detail in an historical environment of 25 Amsterdam canal houses.
During the reunion, the former employees also gave a gift; a beautiful painting of Hotel Pulitzer consisting of many small photographs of the former employees. "The ‘hardware' of Hotel Pulitzer, the 25 canal houses, makes the hotel unique. But what really makes it special is the ‘software'; the employees of Hotel Pulitzer. The painting is symbolizing this in a perfect way" said former Hotel Manager René Kouwenberg.
